Pediatric dentistry

Dental prevention and education starting from the early years of life is a necessary requirement to become adults with healty teeth. When the primary dentition (milk teeth) is complete, it is suggested to take your child to a first pedodontic visit, also to get him used to having a serene relationship with the doctor that will take care of his oral health.
With the eruption of the first definitive teeth (around the age of 6 years) it is suggested to undergo checkups about every six months, in order to act promptly in case of tooth decay.
If the pedodontist thinks it is necessary, he may suggest the fissure sealing, a quick and painless operation. It’s a defensive strategy that consists in protecting the fissures in the fixed molars from tooth decay. The first fixed molars come out at around the age of 6 and are teeth exposed to tooth decay risk, because they are difficult to clean for the child, both for the lack of manual skill in teeth washing and because, since the teeth have just come out, they have very deep fissures.
From the age of 6 to the age of 12-13, the milkteeth fall, the first fixed teeth erupt and there is an important skeletal growth. During this long period the best moments to operate can be different according to the problem.
